1039. Mayan Magic - stroll
Costa Maya, Mahahual, Mexico
Cruising into the colorful little port of Costa Maya can indeed feel magical, especially after several days of being buffeted around at sea by heavy trade winds! So, after taking in the local attractions - dolphins, parrots, voladores, gemstones, chocolates, tequila or whatever - head around to the far side of the cruiseport village where buses and taxis take people downtown. Before exiting the compound, look for a drainage area near the western fence, just to the left of a large topiary bird with red flowers blooming in it when we were there. Taking care not to get pecked by its sharp metal beak, go to the back right corner of the landscaped square of pale orange rocks with agave in the middle that is to the left of the topiary bird and right of the drainage area. Under that far right corner, under one cornerstone, is where we left a 1"x2" flat tan trapezoidal (somewhat Mayan temple-shaped) stone with its "Mexico" stamp on back! Please replace carefully so as not to attract attention.
