1111. Birthday Blossoms Turning into Butterflies!
Richmond , RI
5 Jul 2020
We really thought that this old box of ours, originally planted for Laurette's birthday in 2003, was long gone. We had searched for it for quite a while near the area where we had first planted it (on the far side of the parallel stone wall, half a dozen steps east of the perpendicular wall that is about two dozen steps east up from the bottom of the "kite" loop on the Grass Pond Trail in Richmond, RI), but no luck! Then Katie Cat and Bicycle Bob reported finding it in June of 2020 while looking for "Little Whistler", which had once been Laurette's nearby "add-on" to the birthday butterflies, with bonus clues written in the logbook of our original box. Well, turns out someone must have taken out our original stamp, put it in a new box, given it a new logbook ( without the bonus clues, of course!;-) and then put it all back in a different spot, buried deep in a front crevice of the stone wall and wrapped up in an outer baggie!
Well, we were just so excited to hear that our stamp was still there that we left everything pretty much the way we found it, just moving the box slightly west so that it would be under the 3-foot mossy green tilted rock directly on the north/trailside of where the parallel and perpendicular stone walls meet. So, now you don't even have to crawl over the wall to get this box (although you do still have to cross over to the southwest corner of the other wall for "Little Whistler";-) Hope you enjoy "fluttering" back down memory lane to catch this "old-timer"!
