1187. Whistler’s Father (mystery)

As we had mentioned when we first planted a box near this particular place quite a while back, we felt that most everyone had heard of "Whistler's Mother", but fewer perhaps knew anything about his father. Now it turns out that even the replacement box we planted in his memory seems to have "fallen through the cracks".

So, we decided to try replanting this time in a slightly different spot. From Whistler's father’s gravestone, face and read the side that tells where he died, then take 1/4 turn right and go 4 steps in that direction. Side step 1 step to the right to the end of a pile of rocks. Then look up about 3 feet and carefully reach behind the fist-sized stone that is below the flat bottomed rock for this little memento.
