1190. Dropping by for a Little Dunn Diamond
Placed 9/2/2021
Andover, ME
After well over a year of not being allowed to go up into Maine because of covid-19, we have to say that it is really was quite a lot of fun to finally get back up there in the summer of 2021 to make a start on some of the many boxes that had been coming out in the Northwoods during our very long absence from those parts. Our favorite, of course, after so many years, ended up being finally getting back to some of those well-remembered mountains and waterfalls along the Appalachian Trail. What surprised us the most, though, was that so many of the boxes we visited had had so few or sometimes even no visitors in all that time - even from the folks who are so fortunate as to live up there in Maine!
So, in an attempt to remedy that situation by planting at least a couple more "drive-bys" to try to lure folks out to those parts of Maine that we like best, we decided to drop off a couple more pouches with stamps from moonstone along the way between some of those lovely waterfall hikes, and then hopefully folks will go on to visit the waterfalls as well!
The first one that we dropped off was a little blue diamond on the road between Dunn Falls and Cataract Falls heading northwest from the Andover area, where you cannot help but notice a lovely gently leaning triple birch set back just a bit between two sky blue painted birdhouses. Just look in the wooden slot at the base of the birdhouse closest to Joshua to find a little black pouch. Since we generally try to find at least some little connection between stamps and where we plant them, well...if you put the tops of the birdhouses together base to base, they could sort of form a "blue diamond", so that's enough of a connection for us!;-)
