1193. Brood X at RI XXI

We were so glad that RIclimber agreed to let his "401 Years of American History" gathering serve to cover for the "21st annual southern RI Fall Gathering" this year, since he has graciously hosted that event several times in recent years, whereas we have not been up to doing that for quite awhile now. However, we do still like to try to keep our hands in the hobby at least a little bit, so we started scrounging around in old letterbox stuff to see if there was any stamp we could come with to make some connection with 2021.

What we came up with was a stamp of a cicada carved by sewsewbizzy for the Brood X that came out in 2004 and that was meant to be planted in Patapsco Park in Maryland! Well, we may not have cicadas up here in RI, and we are still planning to get it down there to MD with its appendage date and location when we have a chance, but in the meantime we figured it might serve as a temporary stamp to acknowledge that Brood X did indeed come out again somewhere in 2021! After all, RI is famous for its Big Bug, too, and it does represent another event date in American history! So, very temporarily did this box reside under a wooden X to the south of the swinging orange hammock at event central, and hopefully it will find its way south again soon, too!
