1217. Travelin' light in Victoria Victoria, BC, Canada 5/6/22
"Travelin' lights" (the name we gave years ago to little stones with stamps glued on back without any other sort of letterbox container) are literally the last things we happen to think of these days when getting ready for any of our more recent trips, or so it seems! Once we have booked a trip, planned our sight-seeing itineraries and such, and packed as lightly as we possibly can, only then do we seem to remember anymore to look to see if there are any letterboxes within our time and distance framework. If not, often within the very last hour or so before getting ready to fly off to the airport, we might try to hen-scratch a couple of these tiny "mementos" to leave somewhere near our proposed routes (and sometimes we even forget to do that!;-) So, don't expect much at all in the way of carving or placement for these lightweight stamps, which are basically just meant for something to do while quickly passing through...
Anyway, for this particular "travelin' light", hike easterly along the coastline from the cruise port, (or perhaps southeasterly from downtown Victoria through Beacon Hill Park, as we did), to Clover Point Park. From the info sign there, continue gently downwards to the east on the paved walkway, then fork right on the slightly steeper walkway heading towards the water to the spot where the stone wall on the left makes a corner to the right. From that corner, look less than two feet right along the top of the wall to just before where a plant is growing and see a 6-inch rock balanced on 3 smaller stones. Carefully tucked below those stones is where we left this little 1-inch travelin' light stone with an arrow-point three-leaf clover glued onto its backside to mark a visit to "Clover Point"!
