1224. Christmas Puppy at the Vernal Pool
The stamp for this box is just something we won in a raffle this past summer that some letterboxers might turn their noses up at because it is store-bought, but we thought it was cute anyway, plus it reminded us of another local RI letterboxer, moonstone, that we hadn't heard from in awhile, but always thought of in connection with her dogs. We especially appreciated how during the pandemic she would take her dogs out for walks and plant boxes for us to enjoy at the same time.
So, this little pup is a sort of "thank you"/ "thinking of you"/ "Happy Holidays" box for moonstone and everyone else who planted boxes that kept us going through the COVID pandemic and continue to do so now. We were going to plant it at the Ice Pond along the Narraganset Trail starting from the east side Carter Preserve parking lot on the west side of route 112, south of route 91, but we were running late for our own trip south, so we simply left it under the northeast corner of the vernal pool overlook that can almost be seen from the parking lot kiosk. Just look in the cozy cubby under the wooden platform for this cute little Christmas puppy!
