1237. Puttin' a Cork in Cork County - stroll
Cobh, Jreland
Placed 9/2/23
As usual when we're travelin' around, we often seem to forget about
planting our little "travelin' light" stamps until very near the last
minute! This happened as well while visiting Cork County, Ireland, but
we had one last chance to remember to plant this cork with its little
face end stamp carved by knits of NY, in a lovely little garden across
from the huge cathedral on the hill that you can see from most anywhere
in Cobh, the coastal town that was also the final stop that Titanic made
before its tragic collision with an iceberg. There among the flowers
across from the cathedral's main gate in the Garden of Reflection is a
row of flat slate rocks with sayings from various people etched in them,
including one of our favorites from Robin Williams. The stone wall
corner to the right had a nice crack about two feet up where we
considered sticking the cork, but found it to be already occupied by a
trio of snails! So, instead we tucked the cork in sideways into the top
of the wall, about one foot from the corner, hidden beneath a rounded
light grey stone that looks almost like a fist-sized "fake rock" and a
couple of smaller stones to keep the cork well hidden from view, which
we hope any finders will try to do, too!
