1276) Athens - Acropolis stroll, planted March 10, 2026
The Acropolis is, of course, a "must-see" every time we visit Greece, since it can be seen from so many different angles while traveling around central Athens. The spot from which we got one of our last "lookbacks" at it came after descending steeply down from those imposing ancient hilltop buildings, exiting the fee area and remembering that we still had one stamp left to plant in Greece. This happened to be on the west side of the complex, heading northward toward Thissio along Apostolou Pavlou between Philopappou Hill and the Pnyx. So, we stopped on the west side of that road, with the Acropolis still clearly visible up on the hill to our right and the fountain of Pynx coming out of a cave in the hillside to our left. Just before that signed spot was a lamppost on the left with a double marble paving strip nearby leading directly to one of the staggered thicker green painted posts in the fence running along that side of the Pynx. Attached under the bottom of the lower level to the right of that particular green fence post is where we left one last lovely little reggicat magnet stamp in Greece as a tiny memento of that iconic vision!
