645. La Flor del Cabo
A short stroll along a small beach toward a famous little rocky arch in Mexico
N.B. As most letterboxers probably know by now, after planting well over 500
regular boxes, we got tired of leaving plastic containers out in the
environment, so for the past few years we sometimes just leave in our wake now
small rocks with stamps glued underneath that we call "travelin' lights".
To find this little flower "travelin' light", head south from downtown and the
main tender dock of Cabo San Lucas past the Naval Terminal. We had hoped to
climb Mt. Solmar and plant this flower atop with a view of Lovers Beach/ Divorce
Beach and the rocks marking the tip of Baja California below, but Enrique's gate
was locked that day, so we simply followed the fence line to the southern end of
Playa Enpacaderos, where the rocks begin and the fence goes up the mountain.
From the lowest "No Pase" sign (red letters on white background) with a large
multi-cactus behind the fence, scramble up maybe a dozen paces to a 10' tall
straight single cactus in front of a rock face. There behind the cactus and in
front of the rock face, under a 3" triangular rock rests a small gray and white
stone with tiny garnets in it that harbors a little flower on its back side.
