Wanda and Pete's Letterboxes

646. La Rana del Puerto
A short stroll from Puerto Vallarta's seaside walk to the statue of a famous film director
N.B. As most letterboxers probably know by now, after planting well over 500
regular boxes, we got tired of leaving plastic containers out in the
environment, so for the past few years we sometimes just leave in our wake now
small rocks with stamps glued underneath that we call "travelin' lights".
To find where this little frog "travelin' light" has landed, hop on over to
Oscar's along Puerto Vallarta's many-scuptured Malecon, just south of where the
river spills out into the ocean on Isla del Rio Cuale. Head east to around the
midpoint of the small island to find the statue of John Huston, who directed
"Night of the Iguana" nearby. Sit facing him on the left side of the cement
planter, and wait for a quiet moment to lift the 4" rectangular rock in the
front left corner to hopefully unearth a slightly buried small dark roundish
stone with a frog on its back. Sorry we didn't have an iguana, but please
discreetly replace the frog as found to try to keep him safe.
