778. Cruising to Curacao
A colorful stroll to a combo of cultures in the Old Town of Willemstaad, Curacao
We found the best way to experience this colorful capital of Curacao simply by crossing over the historic Queen Emma floating bridge (aka “The Swinging Old Lady”) from Otrabanda to Punda, and then continuing a few blocks basically southeast through Old Town Willemstaad. Just east past Wilhelmina Park is the yellow saddle-roofed Temple Emanu El with its distinctive white "eyebrows" over the windows. Just a bit further east are two gnarly old trees, tucked into the roots on the east side base of the first of which we left a 1" tan hill-shaped stamp-backed stone under a 2" cement chunk.
