779. Charting a course through Cartagena
Bit of a walk from Cartagena’s cruise port, but a simple stroll from the ancient walls of Old Town with all its history from the early 1500’s onward.
From Old Town Cartagena, proceed east over the H.L.Roman bridge to a park by the same name near the junction of Carretera 16 and Calle 25. There, diagonally across the street from a Texaco station, is a large spreading fig tree. Along the south side of the large east-pointing branch is a white-painted knot hole, and inside that hole, hopefully above the level of children’s curious prying eyes, is where we left a 1" hill-shaped stone with one white side to blend in and a memento of Columbia glued to its bottom.
