849. Wonderful Warszawa
A short walk from the Warsaw Uprising Museum in Poland’s capital
Before visiting this remarkable new “Museum Powstania Warszawskiego” on the west side of downtown Warsaw, few people could probably even begin to imagine what Warsaw would have looked like when it was 90% destroyed during WWII and what the people there went through. It truly is wonderful to see Warszawa rising again now from its ashes, so we left a little memento there at the corner of a small park near the junction of Prosta and Towarowa, just about one block south and one block east from the Warsaw Uprising Museum. Simply go to the first multi-trunk tree north from that junction and look under bark on its northwest side for a 2” dark stone with “Warszawa” on back.
