962. AT Pit Stop in PA (9)

RIclimber recently told us we could take some of his car logo stamps for one last spin before he would like to gather them all back together for eventual replanting, so we decided to take them south again with us on a trip to stay with an old hiking friend who has been asking us for years to come visit her in Myrtle Beach. However, we didn't think we'd be staying down there in SC long enough to make temporary planting there worthwhile, so we decided to drop them off at one of our typical leg stretcher rest stops in PA, the Appalachian Trail crossing at Swatara Gap just southwest of the junction of routes 72 and 443 north of Lickdale. We figured that way we could easily pick them up on our way back north again in a week or so, and at least a few folks in PA might have time to find them in the meanwhile.

Anyway, we were in a bit of a rush to go south after our Veterans Day parade, so these little dark green pouches were rather hastily planted, but we hope the scribbled clues will work. From the gate on the south side of the parking lot, simply follow the "northbound" AT a very short way in and back out to the parking lot, using the following steps as approximations:

1. 60 steps to behind base of tree with bittersweet vines wrapped around it on the left

2. 98 steps more to behind white pine on left under a small tan rectangular stone

3. 83 steps more to right side of scruffy multi-bush left under small sticks

4. 42 steps more on trail, then 8 steps diagonally right to front nook at base of pine

5. 64 steps more to front right nook at base of slightly curved maple on left

6. 55 steps more to right side base of large white pine on left

7. 92 steps back to behind left side of mossy-based tree

8. 100 steps back to 3' up left side of mossy log on left

9. 141 steps back to between 2 small trees on right

…and back to your car for more adventures!
